IBMC 2020 Focuses On Islamic Business Management

UUM ONLINE: With its apt theme, ‘Business and Wealth Wellbeing: Towards Attaining Maqasid As-Syariah’, the 3rd UUM International Islamic Business Management Conference 2020 (IBMC 2020) which took place through Webex recently, focused on Islamic business management.

Chairman of IBMC 2020, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Norazlina Abd Wahab who is the Director of the Institute of Shariah Governance and Islamic Finance (ISGaIF) said, this year the conference successfully attracted the participation of 120 participants from 16 countries, including the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Nigeria, Bahrain, Jordan, Iraq, Qatar and Indonesia.

According to her a total of 90 papers were presented, involving 12 special guest speakers who delivered keynote speeches and presented at forums.

Meanwhile, the Director of programme, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Selamah Maamor said, “The challenges of conducting online seminars arise from a technical stand point as well as the time span of seven (7) days which demands more stamina from all the committee members.”

The Opening Ceremony of IBMC 2020 was officiated by the Founder of KAT Technologies and Founding President of Bumiputra Retailers Organisation Malaysia, Dato ’Dr. Ir. Khairol Anuar Mohamad Tawi.

Organised by the School of Islamic Business (IBS), the IBMC2020 which was organised twice before in 2014 and 2018 in Kuala Lumpur received encouraging response. The forums and parallel sessions enlightened participants with content, information, research findings related to Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises (SME), Industrial Talk and Islamic Finance Education.

Also in attendance were Assistant Vice-Chancellor of UUM COB, Prof. Dr. Salniza Md Salleh and Dean of IBS, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Muhammad Nasri Md Hussain.
