Local applicants
All applications to the Public Institutions of Higher Learning have to go through the Student Intake Division for Institutions of Higher Learning, Department of Higher Learning, Ministry of Higher Learning, Malaysia.

Advertisements informing candidates about enrollment in programmes offered for the first degree level for STPM Students to the Public Institutions of Higher Learning will appear in major national newspapers.

All applications have to be made thought the web using the online application provided by the Ministry of Education (MOE) website http://emoe.gov.my/ . Password can be bought from Bank Simpanan Nasional (BSN) nation-wide.

International applicants
As an international student, you can apply directly to Academic Affairs Department

Masters by Coursework

In pursuing our mission of becoming a centre of excellence for business and management education, Islamic Business School (UUM IBS) currently offers the following programmes.

1 - MASTER IN ISLAMIC FINANCE AND BANKING (MIFB)

    Master in Islamic Finance and Banking (MIFB) programmes are offered starting September 2012 by Islamic Business School (UUM IBS). This programme is a course work based programme,     developed to produce highly ethical and knowledgeable graduates who are responsive and efficient in Islamic finance and banking to fulfill national higher education aspirations and contribute    to the industry and society. At the end of this course, students are required to complete a dissertation in their field of study that will further enhance their analytical, writing and communication     skills.

      PROGRAMME AIMS

    The program aims to produce highly ethical and knowledgeable graduates whoa rae responsive abd efficient in Islamic finance and banking to fulfill national higher education aspirations and       contribute to the industry and society. 

     PROGRAMME LEARNING OUTCOMES

      a. Elaborate concepts and theories related to finance and banking

      b. Adapt Islamic concepts, principles and techniques in solving financial problem faced by companies in realizing the profit as well as fulfilling social responsibility

      c. Critically evaluate issues related to Islamic finance

      d. Manage human resource in carry out responsibilities through effective communication skill

      e. Work effectively in group and demonstrate interpersonal skills

      f.  Apply Shariah Professional code of ethics in the field of Islamic finance

      g. Continuously integrate knowledge of Islamic finance and banking for career development

      h. Identify current and future challenges in managing innovation and developing entrepreneurial skill in the field of Islamic finance and banking

      i.  Build and strengthen Islamic finance and banking through effective leadership

2 - MASTER OF ISLAMIC BUSINESS STUDIES (MIBS)

     The programme aims to produce business leaders with Islamic values who are capable of contributing to the development of Shariah-based business. Throughout the programme students will be                exposed to the Islamic concepts, principles and ethics in solving business management issues faced by ummah in realizing global prosperity and well-being.

     PROGRAMME LEARNING OUTCOMES

     Upon completion of the programme, the students are expected to :

     a. acquire advanced theoretical principles in Islamic business studies to assess business problems by utilizing Shariah-compliant solutions,

     b. develop their analytical skills and ability to make Islamic ethical judgement to solve various business problems,

     c. possess Islamic worldview and epistemology in conducting research in the field of Islamic business studies.

    The aim of the programme is to produce graduates who can work independently, skilled, competent, creative and innovative, with in-depth knowledge in their related areas of research and are able to contribute to the body of knowledge.

    The objectives of the programme are as follows:

    1.       To produce graduates who can work independently in their area of specialization.

    2.       To develop graduates who are competent in conducting research.
    3.       To infuse graduates with the skills and creativity in solving problems.
    4.       To enhance the graduates’ ability to effectively express ideas verbally and in written form.

    The learning outcomes of this programme are as follows:

1.

Mempamerkan peningkatan ilmu yang berterusan dan berkebolehan mengaplikasi teori dan model berkaitan bidang yang dikaji.

Exhibit continued enhancement of knowledge and be able to apply theories and models related to the relevant areas of study.

2.

Mensintesis ilmu bagi meningkatkan keupayaan membuatkeputusan dan menyelesaikan masalah secara kreatif dalam pelbagai situasi berkaitan dengan bidang.

Synthesise knowledge to enhance the ability to make decision and solve problems creatively in various situations relevant to the areas of study.

3.

Mempamer nilai dan etika yang tinggi dalam melaksanakan kajian.

Exhibit high values and ethics in conducting the studies.

    Berkebolehan menjalankan kerja-kerja secara berdikari.

    Able to work independently.

The programmes are offered on a full-time and a part-time basis. Full-time students are to complete their study between 4 to 9 semesters, and those on a part-time basis shall complete between 5 to 15 semesters.

Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) by Research

As part of our commitment in becoming a centre of excellence for Islamic business and management education, UUM IBS offers 5 main areas of specializations as follows:

  • Shariah Advisory and Muamalat
  • Islamic Management,
  • Islamic Banking and Finance
  • Islamic Economics.

Under those specializations, PhD students may choose to focus their research on various business fields such as Islamic Management, Islamic Finance, Islamic banking, Shariah issues i.e. Muamalat, Islamic economics, Islamic accounting, Islamic insurance i.e. Takaful, Islamic marketing, zakat management, mirath management i.e. inheritance, Islamic entrepreneurship, and Islamic Human Resource Management.
