Seminar Muamalah Milenia Beri Kefahaman Menyeluruh Tentang Kewangan Islam

muamalahUUM ONLINE: Bagi memberi kefahaman menyeluruh kepada umat Islam mengenai sistem kewangan Islam meliputi perbankan Islam, takaful, pelaburan, pengurusan hutang dan keusahawanan, Bahagian Muamalat Yayasan Dakwah Islamiah Malaysia (YADIM) dengan kerjasama Institute of Shariah Governance and Islamic Finance (ISGaIF), Pusat Pengajian Perniagaan Islam (IBS), Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) menganjurkan Seminar Muamalah Millenia bertempat di Dewan Seminar A, Pusat Konvensyen, UUM.

Program dua hari yang berlangsung mulai 20 September itu merupakan kerjasama yang julung-julung kali diadakan antara IBS dan YADIM dan disertai kira-kira 142 peserta.

Seminar ini memfokuskan mengenai pengharaman riba dalam aktiviti muamalah iaitu hukum syariat yang bersangkutan dengan urusan dunia, dengan memandang kepada aktiviti hidup seseorang seperti jual-beli, tukar-menukar, pinjam-meminjam dan sebagainya dan menjawab permasalahan mengenainya.

Perasmian seminar ini disempurnakan oleh Dekan IBS, Prof Madya Dr. Muhammad Nasri Md Hussain.

Beliau dalam ucapannya perasmiannya berkata seminar itu mampu menjadi platform terbaik dalam mempertemukan pengamal industri, ahli akademik dan para pelajar untuk berdiskusi, berbicara dan berkongsi pengalaman serta bertukar-tukar pendapat bagi melahirkan modal insan kelas pertama yang bijak menguruskan kewangan berlandaskan Islam.

"Pengetahuan dan pengalaman para penceramah yang luas dalam bidang kepakaran masing-masing pastinya mampu merungkai isu, cabaran dan mengenal pasti kaedah terbaik dalam mendepani setiap perkara berkaitan dengan pengurusan kewangan berlandaskan syariat Islam.”

"Diharapkan seminar ini dapat memberi impak yang berguna dan dapat meingkatkan lagi pengetahuan kita semua dalam pengurusan kewangan Islam," ujar beliau.

Majlis perasmian itu turut dihadiri Pengurus Eksekutif Bahagian Muamalah YADIM, Zamzarizal Mad Ariffin; Pengarah Seminar Muamalah Millenia 2016, Dr Hj Mohd Farihal Osman; Ketua Jabatan Muamalat dan Kewangan Islam IBS, Dr Mohd Shahril Ahmad Razimi, penyelaras-penyelaras IBS dan pegawai-pegawai universiti.

Antara pengisian sepanjang seminar ini ialah ceramah industri oleh wakil-wakil dari badan dan agensi berkaitan kewangan serta sesi pembentangan akademik.

Topik-topik yang disampaikan dalam ceramah industri itu ialah "Pengurusan Kewangan Islam" oleh Puan Hajjah Rohani Datuk Hj Mohd Shahir daripada Hijrah Wealth Management Sdn Bhd; "Perbankan Islam" oleh Roslan Abdul Razak, Mantan Pengarah Islamic, Banking and Finance Institute Malaysia (IBFIM); "Pelaburan Patuh Syariah" oleh Safuraa Ramli daripada Bursa Malaysia Berhad dan "Takaful" oleh Mohamed Hadi Abdul Hamid dari Etiqa Takaful Berhad.

 

IBS-UUM Awarded GIFA 2016

UUM ONLINE: The Global Islamic Finance Awards (GIFA) awarded Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) Islamic Business School (IBS) the coveted GIFA 2016 Market Leadership Award (For Education in Islamic Banking & Finance).

The award was announced by Chairman of GIFA, Prof Humayun Dar.

According to Prof. Dar, although competition was very fierce this year compared to the previous years, GIFA ultimately chose IBS over others.

Among the criteria assessed by GIFA were IBS-UUM recognised undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, its visiting lecturers, the international students, achievements made through international research collaboration, seminars and number of Memoranda of Understanding (MoU) signed with international counterparts.

The win signalled the second time IBS-UUM impressed the panels at GIFA. This win came after IBS-UUM received the "Best Islamic Finance Qualification" title through its Bachelor of Islamic Finance and Banking Programme (BIFB) in 2013.

The presentation of GIFA Awards 2016 will be held in Jakarta, Indonesia on 29th September and winners can expect to receive their awards from the Indonesian President himself.

Ifthor Qaseh Ramadhan IFBA IBS

kuponUUM ONLINE: Mahasiswa UUM berpeluang menikmati juadah berbuka puasa percuma selama 2 minggu sebelum bercuti hari raya menerusi program amal, Ifthor Qaseh Ramadhan di UUM.

Penasihat Kelab Kewangan Dan Perbankan Islam (IFBA), College of Business (UUM COB), Amirul Faiz Osman berkata, program anjuran IFBA merupakan program berbuka puasa untuk membantu pelajar yang memerlukan.

“Usaha ini tepat pada masanya dalam keadaan ekonomi yang tidak menentu kami amat memahami keluhan pelajar, peranan UUM bukan sekadar memberi ilmu, pada masa yang turut sama menjaga kebajikan mereka,” ulasnya.

Jelasnya, sempena bulan yang mulia, IBFA menyemarakkan lagi amalan bersedekah serta berkongsi kegembiraan sambil menyelami kesusahan hidup mereka.

“Kita mendapat senarai nama pelajar yang layak menerima zakat dari Pusat Islam berdasarkan pendapatan keluarga RM3,000 ke bawah yang diberi kupon untuk mengambil makanan secara percuma di kafetaria terpilih seperti DPP EON, Muamalat dan Bukit Kachi.

“Program ini pertama kali dianjurkan memandangkan pelajar bercuti sepanjang Ramadan tahun lalu dan staf pula mengambil kesempatan ini untuk bersedekah sekali gus mengeratkan silaturahim.

“Apa salahnya berkongsi apa yang kita ada untuk memberi kegembiraan agar mahasiswa dapat menjalani ibadah dan mengulangkaji pelajaran untuk menghadapi peperiksaan dengan tenang,” ujarnya.

Majlis dirasmikan oleh Timbalan Dekan Pusat Pembangunan Pelajar dan Alumni, Dr. Mohamad Helmi Hidthiir manakala Ketua Jabatan Islamic Business School, Dr Mohd Shahril Mohd Razimi memberi tazkirah Ramadan.

Sementara itu, Pelajar Ijazah Sarjana Muda Pentadbiran Perniagaan, Harziah Khalid Yunus menyambut baik program yang banyak membantu pelajar susah.

“Sesetengahnya berbuka ala kadar, roti dan jem sudah memadai bukan berjimat tetapi berbelanja secara berhemah bagi menampung kos kehidupan yang semakin tinggi.

“Dengan adanya program kami hanya membawa kupon bagi mendapatkan makanan dan minuman, jadi saya tidak perlu membeli makanan untuk beberapa hari dan adakalanya boleh disimpan sehingga waktu sahur nanti.

“Terima kasih atas keprihatinan UUM sekali gus membuktikan masih ada yang sayang pada kami dan lebih bersemangat untuk berjaya,” katanya.

Walaupun menghadapi masalah penglihatan tidak menghalangnya untuk menunaikan solat terawih di masjid bersama rakan-rakan yang setia menemaninya selain menyertai aktiviti di sepanjang bulan puasa.

Harziah yang tamat peperiksaan pada 30 Jun ini akan pulang ke kampung halaman untuk menyambut hari raya di Kota Kinabalu, Sabah.

Manakala Pelajar Ijazah Sarjana Muda Pengurusan Teknologi, Nurfatin Syafiqah Samsudin berpendapat pemberian kupon sedikit sebanyak meringankan beban sempena kedatangan Ramadan.

“Alhamdulillah rezeki bulan puasa, saya tidak sangka akan terpilih mendapat kupon ini, kawan-kawan juga gembira dengan pemberian yang bermakna dan berharap akan diteruskan pada masa akan datang,” ujarnya yang berasal dari Batu Pahat Johor.

Islam Based Product Created By UUM Researchers Bagged Gold And Silver Medals

awards eoulUUM ONLINE: Efforts to put UUM in the world map paid off for four UUM researchers when two of their innovative products bagged both the gold and silver medals at the World Invention Creativity Contest (WICC) 2016 held in Seoul, Korea recently.

The research team led by Prof. Dr. Abdullah Abdul Ghani consisted of Dr Mohd Shahril Ahmad Razimi, Dr Selamah Maamor, Dr Ahmad Bashir Abd Aziz and Dr Norazlina Abdul Wahab submitted two products, namely IBA Easy Grow which won the gold and MySpirituality Module which bagged the silver medal.

Dr Mohd Shahril said that they did not expect to win since the products produced were Islamic based products and Koreans would find such products rather perplexing and such product may not even be accepted.

“The IBA Easy Grow is the result of a collaborative research effort done with the industry. The result is the production of the spiritually based halal fertigation product.

"IBA Easy Grow is an all-natural sharia based fertilizer that does not make use of animal waste and is environmentally friendly, in addition, the process of making it adheres strictly to the principles of Islam," he said.

Meanwhile, MySpirituality Module, an intangible product which was developed by these researchers would serve as guide to youth institutions when implementing programmes pertaining to spiritual development.

He added that the products produced were the result of the Nic Research Grant Scheme (NRGS).

"We are indeed grateful and ecstatic with our success as it is our daawah and we would like to introduce Islam and put UUM and in particular IBS on to the world stage. We were determined to participate in this particular competition and were ready to compete against the 400 universities from around the world.

"Participating in a competition like this will allow us to share the findings at the global level, it also enables us to test the marketability of the products we produced," he said.

Also accompanying the delegation was the ever supportive head of the NRGS Research Programme, Prof. Dato' Dr. Abdul Rahman Abdul Aziz.

Student of BIFB Programme Selected To Undergo Leadership Training Programme in The United States

aufaaUUM ONLINE: Lady Luck was surely smiling upon a second semester student of the Bachelor of Islamic Banking and Finance, Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) Islamic Business School (IBS) when she was chosen to undergo a youth leadership training programme in Pennsylvania, United States of America.

Ms. Wan Aifaa Shafia Wan Mohd Sopi, 21 was selected to attend The Global Village for Future Leaders of Business and Industry after deciding to try her luck and sending in her application to join the programme after receiving information about it from a senior.

"I found out about the programme through a senior and decided to join in through online. To be honest I am not sure of the criteria of selection that made me the chosen one. In the application, I was asked a few questions about myself being in the entrepreneurship field and the thought never crossed my mind to be chosen to participate in this programme, "she said.

Ms. Wan Aifaa was indeed fortunate as she also obtained full sponsorship to attend the programme, which would take place from 25 June to 30 July.

"There is full sponsorship and partial sponsorship for this programme. I am very lucky to get the full backing of the American Councils and the Iacocca Institute, at Lehigh University as both the payment of fees and accommodations throughout the programme are fully funded.

"Soon afterwards I was also informed that the flight ticket and all my spending money would be borne by AFS Malaysia," she explained.

Organised by the Iacocca Institute at Lehigh University, Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, The Global Village for Future Leaders of Business and Industry would provide participants with in-use leadership training, management and cross-cultural experiences designed for young professionals and university students who shared the dream of building a career in business and industrial leadership as well as establishing an active and prolonged global network.

"The courses in this programme will provide fellow participants with a lot of exposure to the world of business and leadership skills. In addition, participants will also get the chance to visit the World Bank, US Capitol, New York Stock Exchange and the United Nations," she said.

According to Ms. Wan Aifaa again, the programme would run for five weeks and participants would be staying at college residence at Lehigh University where they would learn and live together with more than 100 other participants of various cultures from more than 45 countries.

Though excited to be selected to join the programme, she remained nervous because the issue of Islamophobia in the Uncle Sam country.

"This is my second time to the US after participating in a student exchange programme after sitting for my Malaysian Certificate of Education (SPM) previously. I am extremely happy but at the same time nervous because of the Islamophobia issue which is becoming more common due to several incidents involving individuals associated with radical Islamic group but I hope everything will go about smoothly, without any untoward incidents happening, " said Ms. Wan Aifaa who will leave for the States on 23 June.
