UUM ONLINE: Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dato' Dr. Ahmad Bashawir Abdul Ghani took part in a discussion session with the AACSB Peer Review Team (PRT) led by its Chairman, Prof. Hirokazu Kono via Webex from the Vice-Chancellor's Meeting Room recently.

The workshop was held in connection with the AACSB PRT virtual pre-visit, which took place on 28 and 29 July.
The Vice-Chancellor said he was honoured by the commitment shown by Prof. Hirokazu Kono to undertake this virtual pre-visit to assist UUM in its efforts to drive excellence in keeping with UUM's mission to produce holistic leaders to serve the global community.
Academic Excellence, Research Excellence, Sustainable Community and Industrial Engagement, Financial Sustainability, Service Excellence, and Holistic Graduates, according to him, are supported by six components of UUM's Strategic Plan, which are based on 25 Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
During the session, the Vice-Chancellor spoke about the implementation of the Ministry of Higher Education's University for Society (U4S) agenda, which is based on 'Redesign University Higher Education: University, Industry, and Community Engagement,' as well as the Malaysia Education Development Plan (PT) 2015-2025, in which the 'Quadraple Helix Engagement Model' is the main axis to the U4S concept.
He added that in Phase 3 of the Strategic Plan (2021-2025), UUM placed a strong emphasis on the influence of society, which is addressed in Core 3: "Sustainable Community and Industrial Engagement."
"In addition, we are delighted to continue to move up in the QS World University Rankings 2022, where we are ranked 511-520. Maintaining quality at the global level is a difficult task for UUM, but we will continue to promote the UUM brand by cooperating with other AACSB, EQUIS and AMBA accredited business schools such as Montpellier Business School (MBS), France, to provide double degree programmes.
"I believe UUM is now on the path to excellence, but I remain hopeful that Prof. Hirokazu Kono can offer guidance and suggestions for progress, particularly in relation to the AACSB," he stated.
During the two-day AACSB PRT pre-visit, a Continuous Improvement Review (CIR) Report presentation session was held according to the nine AACSB standards that have been set.
The Deputy Vice-Chancellors, Assistant Vice-Chancellors, Deans of Schools under the aegis of UUM COB, Director of AACSB Accreditation Unit, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Arpah Abu Bakar, Department Heads, Managers, and Staff of AACSB Accreditation Unit also attended this session.
UUM was awarded the AACSB accreditation in 2016 and the PRT visit is anticipated to be from October to November 2021.
