FWD TAKAFUL AND UUM IBS HELP ASNAF, RESIDENTS OF PADANG TERAP BECOME ENTREPRENEURS

UUM ONLINE: Kuala Nerang, 29 January –The Islamic Business School (IBS) at Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) and FWD Takaful Berhad recently organised the Semarak Kasih Carnival, aimed at empowering the asnaf and the underprivileged in Padang Terap to become entrepreneurs.

The programme organised in conjunction with UUM's 40th Foundation Day at the Creative Community Centre Kg Lebai Saman, Naka, included the provision of sewing machines and the upgrade of the multipurpose hall. Additionally, zakat was distributed to deserving individuals.

The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dr Mohd Foad Sakdan, generously distributed zakat to a total of 30 individuals from the asnaf group, who are the underprivileged residents of the village.

The Semarak Kasih programme is organised by UUM IBS in collaboration with various government agencies such as Padang Terap District and Land Office, RISDA, Padang Terap District Health Office, GiatMara and Kedah State Zakat Board.

This programme is organised with the aim of providing support to the village community, with UUM playing a role in facilitating financial assistance.

Meanwhile, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of FWD Takaful, Datuk Ahmad Hizzad Baharuddin, officiated the sewing machine handover ceremony and the launch ceremony of the Creative Community Centre's multi-purpose hall upgrade.

The Creative Community Centre at Kg. Lebai Saman has been chosen for community entrepreneurship through the utilisation of Takaful social funds. The initiative aims to provide financial assistance, offer training opportunities, and develop effective financial planning strategies that will contribute to the economic growth and overall well-being of the local residents.

Around 80 residents from Kampung Lebai Saman, Naka participated in this programme.
